BELCO Temporarily Adjusts Meter Reading Schedule

Hamilton, Bermuda (July 31, 2018) – BELCO would like to advise customers that in light of the upcoming two day Cup Match holiday and in an effort to ensure meter reading cycles do not go beyond 34 days, Meter Readers will be taking readings on Saturday August 4th in areas throughout St. George’s and St. David’s; and Saturday, August 11th in areas throughout Devonshire and Pembroke.  It may also be necessary for Saturday meter readings to t [ ... ]

BELCO has the critical responsibility for generating a safe and continual supply of electricity to our customers. We take our obligation to serve this community very seriously.

After decades of service,our infrastructure is in urgent need of replacement and upgrades. If nothing is done, approximately $26 million in additional cost per year will continue to be spent on deteriorating system that will deliver sub-standard operation, economic and environmental outcomes. Put simply, Bermuda's electricity supply is at risk.

Never touch downed wires as they may be live and you can't tell if a wire is live or not by looking at it. Telephone or cable television wires that are touching a power line can become energised and should also be avoided. If you see a downed wire, call BELCO immediately at 955, and if you are not able to speak to an operator, call 911 to report the location of the downed wire.
