Tips

Use Your Kettle

Use the kettle to boil water quickly and transfer to a pan on the stove for steaming and boiling vegetables or pasta. Be sure to only boil the amount of water required.

Lighting Sensors & Timers

Installing motion sensors, occupancy sensors, photosensors and/or timers assist in the prevention of consuming energy on unecessary lighting - only turn on the lights you need.

Use Daylight

Energy consumption can be reduced by using daylight where possible. Consider taking advantage of natural daylight when designing a new home or office.

Light Dimmers

Install light dimmers, which reduce the flow of electricity to the bulb, allowing the lights to operate with lower power inputs.

Go Cold Save more

Use cold water for laundry to save energy and money. About 90% of the energy used by washing machines goes to heating the water.

Charge Less Save more

Unplug devices such as electronics once fully charged. Chargers continue to use energy even when they aren't in use.

Turn Off Save more

Turn Oven off 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time. The oven will keep the same temperature.

Good Temps Save more

Set your fridge to 40°F and your freezer to 0°F to save money. Settings too cold can use up to 25% more energy.

Switch Off Save more

Lighting accounts for about 15% of a home's electricity usage. Turning off lights that aren't in use is a simple and effective way to save energy and money.

LED Lights

Buy LED bulbs to save. Residential LEDs use between 75% and 90% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent lighting.
