Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (‘BELCO’ or the ‘Company’) advised that members of the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Team recently took part in the TapRooT Root Cause Analysis System (TapRooT) training.
TapRooT is a robust, flexible system for analysing and fixing problems. The complete system can be used to analyse and fix complex incidents, major accidents, difficult quality problems and other issues that require a complete understanding of what happened and the development of effective corrective actions.
The training took place in Boston and participating OHSE team members included Mark Pacheco, Director, Business Continuity & OHSE, Jan Locke, OHSE Management System Coordinator and Peter Simons, OHSE Coordinator.
Mr. Pacheco said: “The TapRooT system is a powerful root cause analysis system supported by effective training and the patented TapRooT Software. Industry leaders use the TapRooT System to improve safety, human performance, equipment reliability and quality by investigating precursor incidents before major accidents happen. BELCO’s operations are complex with many different systems and operations, all of which have varying degrees of risk during the course of our normal operations. The TapRooT training was comprehensive in its scope and highly applicable to everything we do at BELCO. I look forward to putting the training to use and sharing what we learned with our OHSE team members and the wider Company.”
