Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) today announced that the Company’s transmission upgrade project, necessary to replace 40% of the underground transmission cables, will be paused for the remainder of the year. The road trenching work is set to resume in January and will continue in the New Year until completed.
BELCO President Wayne Caines said: “We are making good progress with our trenching project in the east and west ends of the island and currently all work has paused for the holiday period. I thank the public for their patience and understanding as these essential works take place. Once completed, we will have a more modern and robust grid that will assist in our journey to becoming a renewable energy Company.”
