In the aftermath of Hurricane Humberto, in addition to the number of BELCO retirees that have joined the effort to repair, a crew from Algonquin Power & Utilities arrived on the island to support restoration efforts and to learn more about how BELCO’s hurricane restoration teams effectively and efficiently restore the island’s electrical system in the wake of major hurricane damage.
Four lineman and one safety officer began work late yesterday under a mutual aid agreement that was put in place. The crew are part of Algonquin’s Liberty Power subsidiary, a US-based utility company. The experienced crew will lend support until restoration has completed, unless they’re needed to help with issues arising from the approaching Tropical Storm Jerry, which is expected to strike on Tuesday.
