Account Information for Your Home
¬†Here are a few easy steps to follow when opening an account for the first time, transferring your service, changing your mailing address or phone number or closing your account.
Opening Your Account
To open an account for the first time:
Customers who have never held an account with BELCO must come to¬†our Head Office on Serpentine Road in Pembroke to complete an application for electricity service.
Photo identification is required.
There is a $50 service charge for connection of service. There is no charge for landlords/homeowners.
¬†A $150 deposit is required by non-Bermudian residents. The deposit, plus accrued interest, will be applied to the final bill upon termination of service.
Closing Your Account¬†
Written notification is preferred when closing an account. The customer is responsible for the cost of all electricity used on the premises and any minimum charge until notification is received by the Customer Care Department to discontinue the supply.
Moving to a New Home¬†
If a customer is moving, and currently has an account in his/her name, BELCO requests a minimum of 24 hours notice to have the electricity serviced in the new residence.
If a customer is moving residences, they do not need to come into the BELCO offices to transfer service provided BELCO has a completed application form and their current account has a satisfactory credit rating. The customer can telephone into the BELCO Customer Care Department and the new service information will be taken over the telephone.
A¬†customer may be required to come into BELCO, 27 Serpentine Road¬†for an electric service switchover.
There is a $50.00 service charge for all customers who have their electric service transferred.
Changing Contact Information
Customers who wish to change a billing address or telephone number may call or email our Customer Care Department or do so in person at BELCO Customer Care, 27 Serpentine Road.
